A Visit with the Champion

While I was at Del Mar for its opening day I was exremely lucky to go see Triple Crown Champion, American Pharoah. He is there training for his next race, the Haskell Invitational at Monmouth Park. As I walked down to his stable to see him I got to see his friends(stablemates) too. Walking by Dortmund, Bayern, and then arriving at AP, was just an incredible sight. As I got to AP I was handed a bunch a carrots to feed him. One by one he just ate away and his playful personality was definitely on hand. You sometimes forget how amazing these thouroughbred horses are. As I stood next to AP I could feel his calmness around the people taking pictures. He loved it. I also could see how he is ready to get out there and race again. He looked great. He has put on weight and the day after this picture he had another great training sesssion. I thank everyone in AP's barn that allowed us to visit him and most of all I thank you American Pharoah. After watching him win the Derby, Peakness, Belmont, and then getting to see him up close like this, it's just a lifetime experience for someone who works in the racing business, and is foremost a huge racing fan. I can't wait for the Haskell because I believe AP will continue his dominance on his 3 year old campaign all the way to his finale at the Breeders Cup. See you in NJ buddy.
